   Incredibly Effective Tool -- With One Annoying (But Fixable) Design Flaw

   This is basically a shockingly effective tool -- with one minor, but annoying design flaw. I've tried many versions of pet hair removers over the years and none have ever been great. This actually works. Uses a similar concept as other tools I've used before: a napped/burred surface that works by brushing against the 'grain' of the burrs. This one has two differences. When dragging across the surface of (for example) a couch cushion, the motion creates a slight static electrical charge that attracts the hair. It works on any kind of fabric or soft surface. It doesn't work on hard flat surfaces like wood, tile, etc.
   
   The other difference is a closed compartment where the hair accumulates, that can be opened and emptied. This is simultaneously a nice feature -- and also the only design flaw. For some reason, the button/switch to open the compartment is positioned at the top of the handle so that when using it, it's virtually impossible to avoid unintentionally pushing the button and opening the compartment. Fortunately, the hair in the compartment doesn't get dumped out, but you have to keep closing it. Remedied this with a strip of tape, though you'll need to untape/retape to empty the hair in the compartment. That aside, it really works.

   I purposely did not pull up the hair in my 8 x 10 rug until the gadget arrived. I waited a week. The reason I bought this is that I noticed my vacuum cleaner does not pull up the dog hair very well from a basic rug. So I used this on an 8 x 10 rug and focused on 1 foot at a time. The first time that door popped open, and that was actually good because I realized how full of hair it was already😮! I had absolutely no idea that little compartment could hold so much. I then went around the rug several more times focusing carefully in small areas. You have to move it back-and-forth less than a foot at a time. If you try to just push it forward in a long sweep or stroke. It does not work. But works like a charm if you use it correctly. I have two German shepherds in the house. If you have GSDs, also you understand the hair issue. Their real name is German SHEDDERS. The only issue I have with this product is that the door pops open. But I suppose it can be taped. I have also ordered the same product by Black & Decker because I hear it works just as well, but the door doesn't pop open. It hasn't arrived yet, but I am curious to see if it works as well.
   
   This product is even better because it is reusable, very easy to use and a no-brainer. It is as well made as it can be, but is still very flimsy looking, so I cannot speak to durability. It does not work very well on leather furniture. It needs something rough and not smooth so rugs bath mats the covers to the arms of my couch and car seat seats that are not leather would also benefit. All in all very pleased with this.
   
   Ask: I would love to see this product made even bigger, with the door to the compartment, not flopping open, AND maybe even a long handle like a mop handle so that you could use it in large areas.
