Description
Dr. Elsey’s Ultra Clumping Cat Litter is a unique formulation that combines the heavy non-tracking granules of classic with a medium-grain clay. The result is an excellent clumping litter that prevents moisture from reaching the bottom of the tray while providing a clump that will not break down. This cat litter is perfect for multi-cat households and those cat parents with sifting or mechanical litter boxes. With its superior odor control, you can be sure your home will always smell fresh and clean.

Even though it’s unscented, it does a great job controlling odor. Our house doesn’t have that lingering litter box smell anymore, which we both appreciate.
The price is a bit higher than other brands we’ve used, but the quality makes it feel worth it. Less mess, better odor control, and less frustration during cleanup.
Overall, it’s been a good change for us, and we’ll likely keep using it.
Let me first start by saying that I have tried just about every clumping litter on the market. My late cats were 18 and 20 when they passed, one had diabetes and the other had kidney disease, so they pissed like race horses! I now have two male one year old cats who thankfully have normal output.
This litter has pretty low dust, though there is still dust when you pour it out. It clumps well and is easy to scoop with a slatted litter scoop. If you use a good litter mat in the front, it is low tracking as well. Because of all of this, if use a strong liner, this litter can last you a month without getting icky.
We use this at the rescue I work at and can confidently say that even during kitten season, it does not tend to get stuck on the hair between the toe beans unless you have a kitten who has particularly loose stool and doesn't know how to properly cover their poo.
The cons:
This litter is heavier than the lightweight clumping litter out there, so it can be heavy when you bring in a new box or when you change your litter box. Additionally, there can be some odor if you are not scooping regularly or right after your cat goes to the bathroom.
Overall, it's not perfect, but it is a great litter if you have multiple cats.
Unlike some scented litters that just try to mask odors, this one actually blocks them. Even with two cats using the litter box, my home never smells like one. The clumps form quickly, are firm and easy to scoop, and I rarely have to deal with wet clumps sticking to the sides of the box. It really makes maintenance a lot easier.
Another huge plus is the low dust and low-tracking — I don’t find litter and dust scattered all over the house like I have with other brands.
The price is great, especially for how well it performs. You get premium performance without the premium price tag. If you're looking for a dependable, no-fuss litter that just works, this is it. I recommend it to every cat owner I know.
This stuff is the real deal.
I have three XXL industrial storage totes I converted into litter boxes to accommodate 6 cats. I scoop these totes every other morning, and now I realize I was going through a stupid amount of my old litter every week because of poor odor control, poor performance, and very little volume for the price.
I decided to try this brand for the price and weight, and set it as a 3 week subscription.
I scoop my litter the same frequency, but I'm barely making a dent in the stockpile I've accumulated of this stuff! I had to change my subscription setting farther out because this stuff is heavy duty FOR REAL! I can't smell anything from those litter boxes (unless im scooping, obviously), it doesn't track nearly as bad, and I can't find a reason to replace the litter as often?! I baffled?! I have 2 extra bags of this stuff and I only JUST finished my first.
This litter is a little dusty- but so is all clay litter.
There’s very minimal dust compared to other brands I’ve used, and it doesn’t track around the house, which is a big plus. My cats had no issues transitioning to it either. If you’re looking for a high-performance litter that’s clean, efficient, and keeps odors at bay, this is definitely the one to go for!
However, there are two downsides that keep this from being a five-star product. First, the tracking. This stuff does get stuck in my cat’s toes, and I’ve definitely found litter pieces in random places like the kitchen — not ideal. Second, despite many reviews claiming it’s dust-free, I always get a noticeable cloud of dust when I pour it in. It’s not overwhelming, but it’s definitely there.
That said, I keep coming back to it because I haven’t found a better clay litter that feels as safe and effective. It’s not perfect, but it’s the best clay litter I’ve tried so far.
It looks just like other cat litter except it’s made consciously with natural ingredients. Refer to the second picture posted so you can see how it looks! I added this litter to whatever was left of the previous one and you legit cannot tell the difference in appearance.
It retains moisture quickly and clumps better than I was expecting! The bag is HUGE and well worth the price, not to mention the quality of the litter itself! It was very easy to open the bag and apply it- but it was VERYYY heavy!!
Altogether, I am very satisfied and will continue purchasing this litter from now on!
I included this picture so Dr. Elsey’s knows the drivers for Amazon go above and beyond! Also because I accidentally over ordered and the driver was an amazing person to carry all of these 40lb/ea boxes to my second floor apartment! To whomever you are, you are outstanding!! 👏
After many trial and errors, I eventually stuck with the Arm & Hammer Clump and Seal as my go-to cat litter, specifically the one that is dust-free. My son is asthmatic, so dust-free cat litter is an absolute MUST in our household. I read the reviews for this specific brand and I was thoroughly impressed. I took a chance and bought the 18lb bag for starters as a trial to see how it worked for my cat. It has been a few weeks now and I can’t smell ANYTHING! If I didn’t see my cat roaming around I’d forget I even had one.
Pros: The best pros about the cat litter is that it truly seals in the bad odor from cat urine and feces, secondly, it is absolutely dust free so there is no annoying dust cloud when scooping up the clumps, and none of it jumps back in the air or lingers in the air after pouring and/or cleaning, thirdly, it is so easy to clean! It clumps up immediately after my cat uses the litter box and it doesn’t “over-clump” making it so it doesn’t use up the cat litter too quickly. Easy to clean. If cleaned properly at least every other day or even every two days (depending on how many fur-balls one has and how often they go potty) this will last a long while!
Cons: honestly the only con I could think of was that it’s not 100% with litter tracking as I don’t believe there is a single brand out there where a cat won’t kick up a little bit of litter in the floor. But it’s so easy to sweep up and leaves behind a very, very minimal amount.
I recommend this cat litter to anyone with a cat!
Side note for those who can complained about it sticking to bottom and being like concrete...etc. In the vid reviews that show those issues, those individuals have not put enough litter in the box...at all! THAT is the problem, don't blame the litter! This page's description AND on the product it says you need AT LEAST 3-4" of litter in the box. I do that and I've had none of the same problems. Only time might get near the bottom and I have to use a bit more strength is 100% my fault bc I've been lazy and let the litter get too low. So, if you have a box where you cannot accommodate that amount of litter, you'll need a different litter, or a different box!
The dust. Yes, there can be dust. I don't see it everytime I scoop, but off/on. I find as long as I shake my scooper close to the litter level, it's not as bad. But, I do also use a Hooded litterbox, so that helps contain it too.
If you haven't guessed I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THIS LITTER! It's amazing.
I have 3 cats (all adults) and I've been using "ARM & HAMMER Clump & Seal Platinum Cat Litter, Multi-Cat," or some other variation for almost 9 years. I just threw away my 2 litterboxes a few months ago and bought the litter robot 4 (x1). I just recently stopped using the Arm & Hammer and switched to Dr. Elsey's.
When switching to this litter, I completely emptied the old one and tried to clean the "litterglobe" as best as I could. Unfortunately, the Arm and Hammer clumping litter was a lot harder to get off the bottom and sides of the inside globe. Once empty, I covered the bottom with the Arm & Hammer deodorizer, and I put Dr. Elsey's litter (which I did research on to find the best litter for the litter robot) on top along with the Fresh Step deodorizer crystals and started a clean cycle so it would even out. My cats took to it by the end of the next day (luckily), and I didn't have to mix the new litter with the old.

Litter robot notified me that the drawer was full. I also refilled the litter half way. Also, changing the bag 2 times put the litter on low. 1 more change would need a full refill so about 8-9 days before a full refill. The bags are seriously a lot lighter to take out without all the extra litter!
The 40 pound bag lasts over a month, it fills it completely once then allows for top ups throughout that time to maintain the 4 inch depth. I find my Kitty prefers the 4 inch depth as if it gets down to anything less than 3.5 he’s able to get urine on the bottom of the box, then it sticks and it’s a big pain to scoop n clean.
I keep a super clean box, scooping multiple times a day and I always try to after each number two. I thought all litters were the same ol thing until we got this stuff. After researching and reading all the reviews I’m so glad I tried it. Not only is it cheaper than anything else it’s so good, like 10-1 better than tidy cats. The price is comparable when compared pound to pound with tidy cats but since I had to replace tc more often it was actually more expensive than this like double!!!
I hated the smell of cat pee coated in febreze but wasn’t sure how I’d feel about a non-scented litter. I’m a first time cat mom so I had no idea about any of this stuff. They really have the perfect litter formula in my opinion with no additives just clay rocks, and it works. The size of the rocks are perfect they don’t get stuck to my Kitty’s paws and don’t track as bad. I don’t think there is a 100% track or dust free litter but this is close and better than anything else I tried. The only time I notice dust is pouring new litter in or dumping it out, the occasional dusty kitty paw from him leaving the box and the occasional dirty litter paw prints from him playing in the sinks.
I was sweeping at least once a day using tidy cats and I have cut that down to twice or three times a week and basically just a two foot radius near the box not the entire house like it was before.
&& There’s literally NO SMELL!!!!!!! You can’t even tell we have a cat or a litter box anymore surprisingly. We rescued our cat, and was second guessing that decision due to the smell tbh. Sad to say but true! Between this litter and getting him neutered I can honestly say I’m a ‘cat person’ or my cat person anyway I love him so much and have grown so attached to him like I never knew was possible Bc I’ve always had and loved dogs. I never thought I’d like a house cat, but here I am and he’s got my heart!
This company doesn’t put a huge price tag on this litter to help animals and I appreciate that. I can get behind them for that alone but they have absolutely won us over with this litter. Never knew I’d be reviewing cat rocks but here I am, my cat loves it he’s so happy and has never once went outside his box now and it actually encourages him to get in the box. As long as I keep it clean of course!!
I use this in combination with my Litter Genie in the 1/2 bathroom which is right at my front door, and you wouldn't even know there was a litter box when you walked in. It's so clean that I don't even remove it when I have guests using that bathroom. It's also unscented, which is great and I'm sure is much better for a cat who is constantly cleaning her toes. The grains are very large so I only need to use one mat outside the box and the litter never gets tracked out of the bathroom. She still kicks it around sometimes, though!
I always purchase the larger bag, which is 40 lbs, and it usually last me 1.5 to 2 months. I am on my 11th bag since February 2015. I only dispose of the used litter when I'm opening a new bag. It clumps so well that I haven't ever had the feeling that I needed to clean out the box, so I will continue to top it off when it gets low until my bag runs out. I scoop each morning, but only because I want Sasha to have room. I've waited two days before and there is still no smell.
I only have one cat but I think that this litter would be great for multi-cat households. This is the first non-flushable litter that I've had and I was concerned that I'm too lazy for a non-flushable, but combined with the Litter Genie I spend about 20 seconds scooping each day, and another 10 minutes to clean out the box each time I buy a new bag. The hardest part is carrying the 40 lb bag from my front door to the bathroom, and the very heavy 2 weeks' worth of pee balls down to the outside dumpster.
The first time I emptied the Litter Genie I was so amazed that I had to show everyone I knew! I've included that image as part of the review.
The packaging is sometimes perfect and sometimes my box is falling apart as I drag it inside, but that honestly is most likely an issue with my post office. It ships quickly with Amazon Prime and the bag is heavy duty so even if the box is destroyed, I haven't had an issue with the litter spilling. One time my post office would not deliver it because they repeatedly stated they couldn't get in the building. I kept asking them to deliver it and they wouldn't, so eventually they shipped it back to Amazon and I received a full refund.
The solution: Precious Cat Ultra Premium Clumping Cat Litter has solved the dust problem! I started switching over some cat litter boxes to Precious Cat Ultra Premium Clumping Cat Litter in December 2013 without any of my cat family objecting to the new cat litter. The dust problem is disappearing as my inventory of the other brand of cat litter is depleted. I am EXTREMELY pleased, and I am sure the cats are happier not having to breath the dust from the other brand. :)
I have read some reviews on Precious Cat Ultra Premium Clumping Cat Litter on this website that have suggested adding activated carbon to the cat litter to help with odor control. I second the suggestion, and have recently started adding a capful of Marineland Black Diamond Activated Carbon in the 40-ounce size container to a full bag of Precious Cat Ultra Premium Clumping Cat Litter. That seems to be about as much carbon that I see in the previous brand purchased, and the activated carbon is very effective in helping control slight odor over time that remains in the cat litter even after removal of clumped used litter.
It's nice when you're searching around on Amazon.com to see if there is a solution to a problem one is having. Precious Cat Ultra Premium Clumping Cat Litter has solved an EXTREME dust problem in my house. Another of life's problems solved.
