They ONLY get these “treats” when it is pill time.
All of them worked for once or twice then he doesn’t trust them anymore because he discovered the pill. No matter how hard I hide it.
Then I looked online for solutions, I found this and I found a long stick that helps you dump the pill deep in his mouth.
I bought both because I was skeptical, I didn’t believe in this treat.
I NEVER USED THE STICK!!!

My dog is picky and he eats its whole every time, even with his mouth pain sometimes he can’t stand for this treat and he never discovers the pill no matter how big it is.

Each pill pocket is a pretty generous size, we typically tear each one into 4 pieces which significantly extends the bag out for several more weeks and reduces cost over time. Very moldable and easy to use. Texture is very similar to what Play Doh feels like. Will continue to use these and recommend them!
If you haven't tried pill pockets, do yourself and your fur-baby a favor and use them. You'll be very glad you did. The dogs love the flavor, the pills go right down with no issues.
This is my favorite overall because it’s very easy to use. You take it out from the bag, pop the pill and then pinch! The good thing about this treat is that it’s very soft especially for my dog that has dental problems, she has no problem consuming it.
I noticed that there are different sizes for this item. One for pills and others for capsule. I tend to get the larger version because it’s just a nice treat overall.
The only downsides I can think of is that after pinching the treat, it tends to leave a small oily residue which is not too bad, but I find myself washing my hand after giving the treat. The other downside is that when you’re almost finished with the package, there are broken pieces on the bottom. But you can always pinch the small pieces together to make a big one!
Overall, I recommend this as an easy way to give medication to dogs!
My biggest issue is with the shipper, not the product. I would say about every third delivery (I am on a subscription that sends a bag every three weeks) is older and stale and somewhat dried out making them hard to form around a pill without just crumbling.
My other issue with the shipper is that they ship these in a soft sided envelope and it comes flat. Completely smashed.
So what should be a pocket that you slip a pill or a capsule into and form it around the pill or capsule ends up coming as a smashed lump of clay like material that is not as easy to work with. I’m sure it is cheaper to ship them this way, but when it is a product that is like this, the real value of the product is the pocket shape that makes it easy to work with.
I’ve tried out a lot of flavors on my dogs. The hickory flavor seems to hide medicine smells the best.
I buy the large ones in the big bags because they’re the best value for the money. If you don’t have more than needed, they make great treats. They’re amazing training treats. Of course, nothing is better for getting pills into pets. They simply think they’re getting a cookie.
If you’re worried that they’re bigger than needed for tiny pets, not a problem. They’re very soft. Just break off what’s needed and shape it around the pill. I also break them into pieces when using as training treats. I’ve added pieces to food when a dog needed a little encouragement. I’ve even stuffed them into or onto chew toys for a little added fun. Be creative!
When I take out the bag, there’s a lot of tail wagging, joyful barking and jumping. But I make them sit and ask nicely before they can have one. These pocketfuls of love are amazing!
I ordered the capsule size pill pockets in the hickory smoke flavor from Amazon when I ran out of samples. I had assumed the samples from the vet were the capsule size, but I think I was given the pill/tablet size, because the capsule size are much bigger. It worked out even better because I can use one pill pocket three times, saving some $$. I just rip off a third and mold it over the capsule, and store the remainder in an empty pill container to keep it fresh. If that’s too much work for you, smaller capsules like Gabapentin 100mg, will easily fit in the smaller Greenies tablet pill pockets. I hope this was helpful!
They look perfectly shaped on the package, but in reality they are all dumped in a combined bag together, and are not rigid, so they are going to get deformed. I carefully took out every one and put them on the plate for the picture so you can see best how they are likely to arrive, before you start handling the bag a lot at home. At first you might think it bad if many are malformed. But then you realize it doesn't matter at all. Just use it like play-dough and mold it around the pill. In fact, I need far less than a whole one anyway, so I easily break them into pieces and mold back together as needed.
The bag has a zipper seal. But personally, we like to keep a little dish with a lid for convenient access that stays on our counter for his morning and evening pill, and only pull out the bag to refill the little dish. It seems more convenient in a small rigid container than opening & closing the bag each time. But it stays fresh in both places in the meanwhile.
That will seem slightly wet or oily on your hands, and appear more wet if they sat a lot longer in the closed bag. But they will dry out more in frequent use. But it does leave my palm a bit shiny, so I always have to wash my hands after. It doesn't smell strongly to a human, so there isn't a real odor to cause concerns if you are sensitive, but I wouldn't say they are odorless.

He wont take treats from anyone, unless it is perfected roasted chicken, fresh rice, or cold pumpkin puree.
Not only will he not eat anything that is not absolutely freshly made,
but will step back 3 feet from the dish you are trying to serve him as if he’s being poisoned. He’s not.
He often visited the 3 acre open dog park at often as 8-10 times a week in drier weather.
Hyper-active to say the least, and RUNNING, running was his very favorite thing. till…
A few weeks again his desire to jump high enough to reach squirrels in trees,
and leaping from every piece of furniture in the house…. he developed a serious spinal disk injury.
At first his back legs wouldn’t work at all, he’s been heavily medicated, and that has made this sweet but picky puppy much more surley.
Pill time was a nightmare!!! Hiding them in food was pointless no matter how small the pill it would be gently set aside.
The direct method was worse, he would fight and pull his head away while I tried to use my fingers to put a pill in his mouth… it was a traumatic battle 3 times a day, mostly for me, but diminishing the trust of my more puppy each time.
I remembered my vet had used one of these pill pockets on him before, just as a treat and he actually liked it. NOT THE SMOKE ONES he won’t eat those… but the chicken OMGLOB, its been life changing pill time is “TREAT” time, he gobbles them down and wants more…
