Description
Inside your best friend lives the ultimate feline athlete. While our cats are now domesticated, their innate primal nature is still that of a carnivore, craving the right balance of whole prey to fuel their everyday adventures. Nulo Freeze-Dried Raw provides convenient, complete & balanced nutrition with the highest quality sourced ingredients from the most trusted suppliers.

She took to these nibs immediately. I don't serve these nibs outright as I use them as a kibble topper. At best she gets maybe 4-5 of these per serving of kibble which she always consumes first before any kibble. I can't speak for flavor as I'm not the one eating these but I can reasonably assume this is like cat crack of sorts given that she tends to come running when she sees me put a few out.
Cost wise this is not an item to feed alone. It's expensive like other freeze dried options thus, rarely is it served alone. I did try rehydrating this much to my dismay. It did moisten and cook but my girl decided dry was the best for her over it being rehydrated.
I'm not sure if this option has done anything super productive for the health of my cat given that she's mostly eaten wet foods with limited gums or none along with kibble topped with freeze dried foods. I can say that the way I feed my cat doesn't lead to excessive bowels, frequent trips to the litter box nor is her bowels super smelly. Reading the ingredient list is the most important thing to do as a pet parent to make sure they are getting the best nutrition they can get for your budget.
Overall since this is a cheaper option for me to buy I'll continue to rotate this out with rabbit nibs from Vital Essentials.
As for what I typically feed her, I’ve been feeding her the Nulo Medal Series Cat and Kitten Turkey recipe kibble. When I first found her she had some food allergy (I still haven’t figured out what it was) which caused her to have a skin reaction but she didn’t have any issue with the Nulo kibble and she’s been on that since. So, that’s why I tried the freeze dried raw from Nulo because I was worried that switching brands might cause a skin issue, but she hasn’t had any skin reaction to it. The lack of skin reaction combined with the fact that her overall health has improved and that she seems to quite like the taste, I give this stuff 5 stars!
But you can't beat the quality.
The kittens were orphaned bottle babies. The size of 3 week olds at six weeks, they've struggled with digestive issues. Now a year old, their overall condition has improved much since we switched them to Nulo and other freeze dried foods. I especially like that Nulo has probiotics for their digestion. All of our cats love Nulo wet or dry. Bonus: Our obese girl has lost weight without all of the carbs in regular dry cat food.
Carbs is under 1% and seems accurate for this food ‘rehydrated’ does not raise my cat’s blood sugar temporarily after eating much at all (20 points at best).. ingredients are great for a large commercial pet brand but, i think Stella & chewy brand is still better but, Nulo has something in it that my cat loves rehydrated so in the end, this Nulo is better for us..
For those needing to know how long a bag will last: a dry cup of this very lightweight crumbly nulo food weights 1.40 ounce or 40 grams which equals 200 calories per cup.. take your cat’s weight and times it by 15 if inactive or 20 if active (assuming not underweight, kitten age and you have a regular cat) and this will give you the calories your cat needs (divide that by 5 to get grams to feed per day).. basically for a 10lb ‘active’ cat, an 8oz bag will last 5.5 days..
NOTE: i ordered 3 8oz bags elsewhere after writing almost the same review there and pieces/nuggets mostly look intact in those bags so i guess mostly full bags of crumbs is not the norm.
